Homewood Community Partners Initiative
the Homewood Community Partners Initiative (HCPI) grows out of a greater understanding that the health and well-being of Johns Hopkins University's Homewood campus is inextricably tied to the physical, social, and economic well being of its surrounding neighborhoods. JHU's response to that link comes from a combination of enlightened self-interest and a moral obligation that dates back to the founding of the university in 1876. Major urban universities, competing for talent, acknowledge that the off-campus experience in many ways rivals in importance a rich and well-established academic tradition.
